Rippy made a verbal commitment tonight. White isn't even reporting what he "heard" from "sources". This is no different than every other verbal that gets reported throughout the year.

completely WRONG jethro -- White jumped the gun. Rippy is denying that he made any commitment. He DIDN'T do his job, which should be the interviewing of relevant parties, such as the player himself! If White had spoken to Rippy to get confirmation, Rippy would've denied the story. White screwed up both as a reporter and as a guy who has no judgment. This ain't "real" news anyway. Does White think he's "deep throat" trying to expose corruption at the White House?

Obviously, since the Trib Review also reports that Rippy deciding to go with Pitt, the information came from a source who was deemed to be in the know.

Try putting yourself in White's shoes and imagining waking up this morning only to see that the Trib went with the story that you sat on.

No, the only time sitting on a story is acceptable in the business is if there is an agreement between the reporter and the source as a condition of getting the story in the first place.

If you want to blame anyone... blame the Coach who seems to be the source to both White and the Trib.

t2pyah - I was going to ask you about the game. I listened to parts of the game on the internet flipping between the Shaler/SV and NA/Butler games. What happened?

Ironman - was not at game (was at little t2pyah game) - but was getting text msgs

NA up early - but Butler took over in 2nd qtr with big run and cruised to win - 5 NA players were in foul trouble - 3 fouled out

apparently Snodgrass had a tremendous game - hit just about everything including free throws - also had some nice passes

someone on twitter described Snodgrass game as the best individual performance he had ever seen (high school)

Mike was just doing his job. It just goes to show, however, how the signing process is getting out of hand. They should just ignore these kids. No press conferences, no interviews. I was at the NA @ Butler game last night and that was me that tweeted that was the best individual performance I had ever seen. Nate Snodgrass completely controlled that game it was amazing.

I sat right behind NA bench (being an NA alum and fan) and during a timeout, DeGregario (NA Coach) asked the players if they knew Snodgrass wore #3 and asked who have we focused on the last 2 days?

LOTS of foul issues for NA (as has been the case all year) and the defense allowed way too many layups (also the case all year). NA never got in a rhythm offensively either. It was a complete mess (for a Tigers fan).

I believe Goldberg (Mt Lebo) will be DL at Wisconsin

and possibly (just possibly) he did not have the greatest relationship with his HS coach

How can you question a kid picking Wisconsin over Pitt? Wisconsin is a Top-10 program that plays in front of packed houses every week. I'm a Pitt fan, but Pitt has been mediocre for a long time, plays in a mediocre conference, and draws about 20,000 apathetic fans for most games. Easy choice.
